Well, I don't know if there's actual "Freestyle" clothing - but what type of clothes did you wear to the ole Freestyle clubs back in the day? Z.Cavaricci's (why they're only women's jeans now, I'll never understand), B.U.M. Equipment? Kamikaze? What else?

i think they were called something else. the parachute pants came out in the early 80's. I owned a pair. they were like plastic! (remember beverly hills cop when eddie murphy was laughin at the couple walking by? those were them)

i think they were called "body builder pants". but im sure there was a more legit name.

Sal Collaziano
January 23rd, 2006, 03:06 PM
Oh, those! With all the wierd designs and stuff. They were comfortable too.. I had a few pairs of them.. Chess King! Yeah, that was a cool store.. I never shopped in Merry Go Round, though.. Not sure why.. I guess Chess King had everything I needed...

New York must have been so happy when kids started dressing with this type of clothing.. It gave way to Grunge... Why? Heh...

drakkar!!! how can i forgot that? I used to buy that by the gallon! I even used the drakkar deodarant. it was 10 times better than any deodarant on the martket. cost $10 but it was worth it.

other unforgettible colones were polo, gucci and obsessession.

hey, you know who would know about the baggies? Wayne! that guy still has all his cavariccis hanging in his closet, all wrapped up and ready to go. he figures if platforms and bellbottoms could make a comeback, so would 'riccis!

KENNY GUIDO

The fun we used to have in that place! it was cool for those of us that were too young to get into the 18 and over clubs.

remember ELONS right down the road? I used to see 16 year olds from the high school in there!

Nicky V
January 24th, 2006, 06:37 PM
The rink was like the minor leagues for us. Its where we practiced all our moves, then we graduated to the pike, franny lou, dpa and 86th st. Don't forget the capizzios and champion sweatshirts with turtle necks . Elans, blast from the past. saw naughty by nature there, the place was mobbed.

Well, that description did it.. I remember him. Not personally, just his car...

This topic got totally hijacked...

Since we're on the cruising topic - I first started out on DPA in a huge green Ford Bronco (I was a passenger). Then I got a 1970 Chevy Nova, beige - until I painted it flat black.. Next up (that anyone might remember) would be a Ferrari-yellow Chevy Camaro with Daytono turbo hood, Ferrari-like doors, big spoiler, ground effects - but I only drove that for a short time before I sold it to some blonde kid (just making sure everyone knows that wasn't me - he was goofy). I had a white 1988 Pontiac Formula with limo tinted windows and a BIG white "gangsta bitch" on the back. My ex drove that car.. The only car I actually have a picture of cruising up there with was in the late 90s, unfortunately..

The only cars I actually have pictures of (that I cruised up there with) are:

Corvette (http://www.80sxchange.com/myvette/vette.html), Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe (http://www.80sxchange.com/caddy.htm), Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham (http://www.80sxchange.com/caddy2/caddy2.html)

HOLY Crap! Their egos are unreal! Well.. Do you know much about cars? I mean, if a mechanic is telling you what needs to be done, do you know if he's BSing you or not? Because there IS one shop that does Excellent work but if you don't "know" about cars, they can rip you off..

I don't know if any on you guys remember Laces in New Hyde Park, I remember the guidos rockin' the satin jackets with the title of their favorite freestyle song embroidered on the back or the 8 Ball jackets, or even the 3/4 leathers tied around the waist. I could never do the keds though, but I did rock the Sergio Tachini.

I did the keds. they got dirty fast. I used to buy a pair of leather keds every month. they cost me $30 a pop but they were worth it. they never lasted very long.

I never got into the sergio techinni stuff. I had a jacket that I remember my sisterss' ex gave me that he stole from Machines one night. they didnt have a coatcheck so kids were just throwing thier jackets into a pile and I remeber him grabbing whatever he wanted, just like he was a kid in a candy store!

DJ Alex Cruz
February 20th, 2006, 08:18 AM
That was the good thing about keds, they were only 30 bucks. You could buy 2 or 3 pairs at a time.
