"I Feel Alive" has been around for about a year or two. Where's Sal Abbatiello's part of the interview?

That was it, he got to the studio late so most of the (maybe I should have called it an appearence instead) interview was with Noel. I editrd out only the songs that were played in between the talking.

Didn't have a Trance album suppose to have come out after he did that Trance single with FORD back in 2001 that was suppose to have been produced by Junior Vasquez in 2003. Atleast that is what I recall reading in DMA magazine back in 2001.....

It's sad when you have producers putting together good freestyle and dance tracks and then something like this happens because I am all for new music.

'The Question' is by far the best Noel (Concept of One, Tony Moran, Noel) song, IMO.

'Silent Morning' and 'Like A Child', while good (and much loved), were never my "freestyle cup of tea".

'The Question' however *****

:D

I had higher expectations from the new track; an added freestyle mix would have been nice to sample, given that the Noel brand still makes a living of the freestyle concert scene and related public exposure. Hard house is ok, but dancier versions including freestyle will continue of what very, very little equity, the Noel brand has left in this very competitive and small dance music marketplace.

Noel was not interested in having any part of freestyle music, at least not as far as recording new material was concerned. I heard it right from him. Also, the only reason why he performs at freestyle concerts is because he's doing it as a "hired hand". He told me that himself and it hurt a lot to hear it. Things 'aint quite as sweet as they're made to seem to the unknowing public.

that's why there is very little mileage left on the brand name "Noel". Dance versions other than hard house would maintain some steam but the lid is already on the cooker now.

That's a shame.. I really like Noels songs.. But we can't hate the guy because he's not into Freestyle anymore. That's his personal choice and he has a right to it... Just keep that in mind..

I agree with you Sal. But having a single in the hard house genre only alienates the majority of dance music fans. Several mixes in trance, house, electro, etc. would keep the lifeline of the brand, it doesn'thave to be specific to freestyle.

That's absolutely correct. However, the same freestyle fans who are paying high prices (compared to back in the day) to go to these concerts that are being directly marketed to them also have the right to expect some genuousity from the performers and feel that the whole thing isn't just an act to get their money. This isn't a Broadway musical or a play. Like it or not, people take music seriously, not as just an act. Fans believe that that's the person who the particular artist really is with the music being an expression of that. I don't have any exact numbers or specific information but I would be very suprised if Noel is getting paid more off of his new house tracks than what he still makes off of his Freestyle perfomances. It's kinda f*cked up if y'all think about it that the wants of his paying audience are being totally disregarded in favor of an audience that probably couldn't care less. The reason why there are no freestyle or freestyle like remixes of any of his new stuff is because he wants no part of this genre anymore expect to get paid if the oppurtunity presents itself. And that's what makes the whole thing so bogus!!! Some (not all) of these old school acts are actually ashamed of freestyle. They think it's cheezy and dated, but that's they own fault. Make music that you'll still be sure of several years later. Don't make music that you yourself are going to be ashamed of years later. You think Wu-Tang Clan is ashamed of their music from almost 15 years ago? It's kinda like a girl having a boyfriend and a guy on the side. The boyfriend is so good to her while the guy on the side isn't serious about her at all, yet she continues to mistreat the boyfriend that's been there for her the whole time and looks to win the favor of the new guy that doensn't care about her at all.
The blame lays with the promoters for not wanting to take a chance on anything new and insisting on booking the same acts from over 20 years ago to perform the same 2 or 3 songs from back then. Are you trying to tell me that in the last 15 years (the new school era), there haven't been any artists to come out that had even 2 or 3 songs good enough to draw any interest for a show? Does that even make sense? No, I'm not saying that the old school artists are doing anything to hold the newer artists back. It's the promoters who for well over a decade now have not wanted to take a chance on anything "new school". I've been there while promoters were planning out concerts and they're only looking to book the obvious and the same 'ol because they want something that's a guaranteed draw. It's not so much the fact that this scenario ever existed to begin with that bothers me, it's the fact that it's been like this for so long now. Even the new school is getting old. Am I the only one that sees the obvious?

You know what saddens me the most Kid Heartbreak, (by the way well thought out argument) is how he says he is not into it anymore. There is newer music out there, singers that would be honored to take his place in a concert lineup....not to mention to be able to sing along with their inspirations.
Elissa, Jennifer Glass, Sharyn Maceren,Vanessa Conde, Miles Petty just to name a few.
I agree with you Heartbreak-- it is a territorial sad situation that is getting worse I might add. I have seen it this year and though others told me about it, I never wanted to believe it was true but now...
