Well, I haven't had a chance to listen to the mixes yet, but if I had to guess, I'd say they are probably from HOT 97 FM in New York City. HOT 97 (WQHT) was a great freestyle and dance/pop station in New York City from the mid 1980's to early 1994 when it was switched to a Hip Hop and R&B station. Their slogan changed from "New York's Hot Mix" to "Where Hip Hop Lives" and they have been a Hip Hop/ R&B station ever since. Ironically, HOT 97 WQHT use to be located at 103.5 on the dial (HOT 103). This is the same frequency that later became "The new KTU" in 1996 and played many of the songs that HOT 97 use to play.

If you want more info on Hot 97/103 check this link out http://home.att.net/~walter.tomasheski/WQHT.htm
It has a history of the station. It also has audio files of actual air checks but there are no music or mix downloads. Hope this will add to the good info mrderekevan already posted. If you like the mixes I still have some more mixes to post as soon as I have time.
